Checking Shield Caps and Breakdown

Where to check: Open Detailed Stats to the right of Stats on Home. It shows current values such as the Shield grant cap and Shield mitigation cap.

Grant cap: The amount of Shield you can stack relative to max HP. The current cap, including Skill, Job, and Permanent Skill bonuses, is separate from the amount restored per 1 refill.

Mitigation cap: Normally 65%, raised by effects to at most 100%. With enough Shield and a 84% cap, 100,000 damage deals 84,000 to Shield and 16,000 to HP. Shield also falls by 84,000.

Insufficient Shield: Any amount the Shield cannot absorb goes to HP. Poison and Burn bypass Shield and damage HP directly.
