Core Stats
HP: Falls when you take damage; at 0, you are defeated. Max HP also determines healing, Shield, and effects calculated as a percentage of max HP.
Physical ATK: Affects damage from physical weapon attacks and abilities or effects that scale from Physical ATK.
Physical DEF: Reduces damage from physical attacks. Magic attacks use Magic DEF.
Magic ATK: Affects damage from magic weapon attacks and abilities or effects that scale from Magic ATK.
Magic DEF: Reduces damage from magic attacks. Physical attacks use Physical DEF.
Basic Attack does not mean physical only. Depending on the weapon's Hit composition, it may be physical, magic, or both. Unless an effect explicitly says physical only, conditions involving Basic Attacks also include magic Basic Attacks. Bursts and Counters are separate.
Check a weapon's attack under “Physical/Magic Power... × 1Hit” on the Equipment selection screen opened with Swap from a Home weapon slot, or in its Inventory details. Physical scales from Physical ATK and Magic from Magic ATK. Weapons with both use the matching stat for each Hit.
Speed: Affects how quickly the Action Gauge fills. Higher Speed generally grants more actions, and the faster combatant acts first if both gauges fill simultaneously.
Abilities and effects scale from different stats. Some attacks use Physical DEF, Magic DEF, or Speed, so check each effect's description.
Battles are automatic. You do not choose Physical ATK or Magic ATK during battle; the weapon's Hit composition and abilities determine them. For every 1 DEF, damage does not fall by a fixed 1, as the attacker's stats, Power, and other factors also matter.
With an off-hand item equipped in the left hand, Physical DEF and Magic DEF also affect Shield refills. See Shield for the grant cap and Shield mitigation cap.
Physical DEF and Magic DEF do not reduce Poison or Burn damage. Critical rate and Evasion are separate from core stats.
Critical rate: First cap the attacker's rate at 100%, then subtract the target's Critical resistance, with a minimum of 0%. For example, rates of 100% and 150% against 50% resistance both become a 50% roll. Guaranteed Critical effects roll separately.
